I’m so excited about the release of our Spring and Summer Statement Boxes. Our May Mother’s Day box was a great collection but now it’s time to reveal our June box. This month I decided to collaborate with an amazing local, Jacksonville Style & Fashion Blogger, Blakeley Vinicky.
I met Blakeley at the beginning of the year at a North Florida Influencer event and knew right away she was an amazing person. Remember, this is the year of YES for me and I wanted to get out and meet people. Saying yes to an invite opened up an opportunity for me to meet some amazing bloggers at this event.
I’m really excited to collaborate with Blakeley because she has a great sense of style and I love the collection we collaborated on to introduce to our Statement Divas for the month of June.
Let’s take a moment to meet our June Statement Box Diva
1.) How did you get into blogging?
I actually first started blogging back in 2007 in one of my college classes. We had to create a blog and keep up with it during the semester, and it served as our final for the course. I realized how much I enjoyed it (I’ve always loved to write and take photos, so it was a natural fit). I started a blog called Sweet Tea and Skyscrapers that served as my online journal during my transition into the “real world” as I moved from Georgia to Florida I found myself focusing more on beauty and fashion, so I shifted gears in 2016 and started my current blog, This Blonde Life, which focuses on beauty and style for the modern mama, and life with my blonde family! I love having my own creative outlet and piece of the Internet to share things I love with people.
2.) Which is your favorite pair of earrings from Conscious Statement May Collection and why?
I love them all, but my favorites are Ria Bead Drops! The bright blue beaded tassel earrings are so fun and different, and I absolutely love the drama of Knit to Perfection. They are a fun statement piece, and I’m such a sucker for bright colors! I can already think of outfits that I can wear them with this summer.
3.) What do you like to do on your free time with your family?
Free time … what’s that?! I’m a busy body and a planner, so free time is pretty sparse in our house. My husband is such a trooper and has been a huge support of me any dreams and he is also an amazing dad. I will say that having a baby has definitely made me slow down a bit, but my husband and I both get stir crazy if we sit around too long, so we are constantly on the go. We love visiting local coffee shops on the weekends, brunch is always on our Sunday agenda, we love the beach, trying new restaurants, and just exploring our beautiful city. It’s funny … I’m pretty confident Daisy, our 16-month-old, is the same way. She is such a people person and loves being out and about, too!
4.) What are some of your favorite summer styling tips?
It can be tough looking stylish and put together in the hot summer months, so light fabrics and breezy styles are a must. You can catch me in a sundress or skirt probably 70% of the summer (the other 30% a swimsuit or yoga pants). I love comfy maxi dresses because you can dress them up or down, and you can’t go wrong with a strapless sundress.
On of my favorite local places to shop is Jacksonville is Belle Blvd. Their signature floral dress is great because it can be dressed up with heels or wedges, or dressed down with sandals or flip-flops. Pair it with a denim jacket like I did, or show off your bronzed shoulders with the spaghetti straps! This olive green two-piece is perfect because it’s just as comfy as it is cute. The material is super soft and lightweight, and I love that you can wear the pieces together, or individually with other pieces to create different looks. If you’re looking for a dressier style, I love flowy and off-the-shoulder dresses like this one. Keep it light and airy with a soft color so you’re not attracting the sun and sweating to death. Remember: less is more in the summer, and then you can jazz up your look with fun earrings and jewelry!
5). Tell us about your top styling tips for the Summer?
I think my #1 tip for a mom who wants to stay stylish is to make time for yourself, and stay true to who you were before you became a mom. Obviously a lot changes once you have children, and it’s easy to lose yourself and let go of the “you” you once were. But who says we have to chop off our hair and live in oversized tee shirts just because we’re moms? You may not have the time you once did to get yourself ready or the extra money to spend on clothes to keep your closet up-to-date, but you can certainly still be a rockstar mom and look hot while doing it. Find a makeup routine that works for you but doesn’t take forever to apply in the morning, and either invest in a few classic pieces that you can style several different ways, or keep an eye on the clearance racks at Target (they know what’s up!). Another tip: unless you somehow have the time to dedicate to a daily gym routine (share your secrets!), our bodies aren’t quite the same after having a baby. Find a brand or style that flatters the new you and rock it. It’s okay if you can’t fit into your size 4 jeans anymore … you just gave life to a human! You’re perfect. And don’t be afraid to get dressed up, curl your hair, or rock red lipstick. I promise you’re not being selfish because you want to spend an hour getting ready on occasion, and if you are so what. You put in dozens of hours taking care of your family first – you deserve it, Mama! Just because you’re a mom doesn’t mean you have to give up being you.
One of the things I love about Belle Blvd is that they have a great selection of items that are not only comfortable but are easy to move around in as I am always on the go. This two pieces top and skirt is not only cute and comfortable but also stylish.
